Magic Lantern Show

3121 Old Philadelphia Pike, Bird-in-Hand, PA 17505

Watch A Christmas Journey and start a new Christmas tradition with your family. Travel back in time with this early form of entertainment that predates TV and film. Experience a Victorian family’s Christmas, and listen to Grandpa telling beloved Christmas stories using his Magic Lantern. The Magic Lantern is a three-tiered projector that use stunning hand painted plates, projected onto a screen, to aid the imagination. These projections serve as the starting point for Grandpa’s stories, poems, and songs. He’s a real showman, interacting with the audience, portraying many characters to tell the stories, and coordinating images and music. This holiday, laugh along with your family at the Parade of Toys story, The Night Before Christmas tale, and the rarely told Gabriel Grubb and the Goblins story. You will also hear some Christmas classics like A Christmas Carol in the way it would have been told over a hundred years ago.
